Stop Third Base Bashing
In every walk of life there are individuals who see the world in a negative way and they like to blame their misfortunes on other people's actions. Many blackjack players are no different, and it doesn't take long to find a table with a player who has obviously taken the time to learn basic strategy, but can't handle it when the other players at the table are novices. Novice players will often make moves that are against what's taught in basic strategy, therefore changing how the cards would have played out had they followed basic strategy rules. When the novice player's mistake results in the dealer hitting a winning card, frustration and improper conduct on the part of the experienced player all too often follows.
This is amplified when the novice player is playing at "third base", or last to play before the dealer. This player's decisions are under more scrutiny because their moves appear to have a bigger affect on the dealer's results. If the player on third base hits when they should have stayed, and the dealer misses a card that would have busted him, the player in the third base position will often receive some sort of negative feedback. Experienced players who take the time to shave off any edge they can from the house expect the other players to be playing correctly, which just isn't the case in most casino settings.
What these so-called experienced players don't understand is that the only player that can affect their game is the one in the mirror. In the long run it will all even out for a player who plays basic strategy, and the house will always come out on top anyway. If they play basic strategy, and they don't like how someone is playing, they should move to another table. Even in the busiest casinos they'll find a blackjack table to play on without having to wait long. And online there's never a wait to play in a new game. If they don't want to move, maybe they can offer to teach that novice player some basic strategy so they will be able to play to a better advantage in the future.
